Canada: what recent study permit changes mean for new applicants
Canada has continued to adjust study permit conditions over the past two years. Here is a plain-language summary of what matters for students from Pakistan applying now.
Visa updates · 22 August 2026
Canada has made several changes to its international student programme in recent years, including adjustments to study permit volumes, provincial attestation letters and post-graduation work permit eligibility for certain programmes.
These changes affect which colleges and universities are the safest choices, and which programmes still lead to strong post-study work options. Requirements can differ by province, so generic information found online is not always accurate for your specific case.
Our counsellors track these updates directly from official government sources and confirm the current position for you before you choose a programme, not after you have already applied.
